The South Carolina Wildlife Partnership “SCWP” is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was established in October 2017 when a group of citizens from across our state who share a passion for responsible and ethical hunting, envisioned providing hunting opportunities for everyone in South Carolina who would like to participate. The founding members of SCWP believe that responsible and ethical hunting contributes to the well-being of the environment, wildlife populations, and our state, and we believe that everyone in South Carolina should have access to opportunities to participate in hunting.
With approximately 90% of the land in South Carolina being privately owned, many potential hunters have little or no ability to experience hunting, learn important principles of sportsmanship, and develop a lifelong connection with nature and a passion for hunting and the preservation of our natural resources. The mission of SCWP therefore is to connect public hunters with private landowners who are willing to provide hunting opportunities that promote respect for the land and ethical hunting for the future.
Our Vision:
Provide hunting opportunities for everyone in South Carolina who would like to participate.
Our Mission:
We connect public hunters with private landowners who are willing to provide hunting opportunities that promote respect for the land and ethical hunting for the future.
Our success depends on partnerships with private land owners who believe, as we do, that hunting should be for all who are interested. In 2018, we formalized a collaborative partnership with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The DNR manages approximately 1.1, million acres of public land and administers the public draw hunt system. They have agreed to help facilitate and provide a list with contact information for non-selected hunters from SCDNR lottery hunts if hunters opt in to participate. This will allow SCWP to conduct an independent draw system for the public on private lands, helping to provide greater access for everyone in South Carolina to have opportunities to participate in hunts. On July 18, 2018 a resolution was signed in agreement for the collaborative partnership between SCWP and SCDNR to form a draw hunt system for SCWP formed partnerships. The combined efforts will increase the number of applicants that get the opportunity to hunt in South Carolina annually. SCWP is very excited to work with SCDNR and learn from their experience and current draw hunt programs.

Our Core Beliefs
Everyone in South Carolina should have access to opportunities to participate in hunting.
Responsible, ethical hunting contributes to the well-being of the environment, wildlife populations, and our state:
Hunting plays a key role in responsible wildlife management, helping to defend some animal populations from disease and starvation, while protecting some that are threatened and endangered.
Hunting provides a healthy way for individuals to experience and strengthen connections with nature and develop an appreciation for our natural resources.
Hunting creates opportunities for mentorship and the transfer of principles of ethical sportsmanship and outdoorsmanship to future generations.
